Martin’s year in travel photos: Part 1 of 3

2011 was a momentous year for me. I left work, and for half a year, and proceeded to visit friends around the world one by one. There was no rush, no compulsion to be anywhere at a particular time. If I liked a place, I stayed. If I didn’t, I left. I tried to spend at least a week in most places. It all started in Melbourne, Australia, then moved me accross the country, through into Asia, around Europe, and finished in the awesome overland road journey that is the Mongol Rally. There were some beatiful moments, and some beautiful sights that I’d like to share with you in two posts.

Without further ado, here’s my year in photos for 2011, part 1: January to April.

Augusta, south west Australia

A landscape of sand and sea to start off the year...

January: Beach near Augusta, South West Australia

Night out in Singapore with Trish and Linda

April: Dinner in Singapore

Just another passer by in the old Inodochina...

April: Outside a cafe in Hanoi, Vietnam

Halong bay boat

Hanging out by a floating village, taking a look at the local boats...

April: Floating village, Ha Long bay, Vietnam

Mung woman in Sapa

April: Sapa rice terraces, northern Vietnam

Yunnan stone forest

No, it's not a movie set. That's some very real rock, and some very real trees.

April: Stone forest, Yunnan, China

That wraps up the year till April – soon, it’s on to part two and Europe…
